10 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT YOUR BRA

Oh bras. We’ve all been there: what’s my size? How the heck should I wash this?! Have no fear! We’re here to drop some tips on loving and caring for your pretty underthings. Welcome to Bra Shopping 101! Take notes.

SPORTS BRAS ARE NOT DAILY BRAS

We know, we know. They’re. So. Comfy. They’re perfect for breaking a sweat in, but we hate to break it to you, they’re lacking in the support department. Limit them to their namesake for working out or when you need that extra bit of control.

WIRES ARE YOU FRIENDS

Again, WE KNOW. But hear us out! A good side wire in a bra isn’t going to let you down – literally. Just make sure that the wire is hitting on the side of your chest, pushing in. You know you’ve got the wrong cup size when the wire isn’t on your side, but pressing into the fleshy part of your chest. You’ll know it if you feel it.

ADJUSTING YOUR BRA

This one is a game changer! The cups on bras aren’t going to be perfect, so we have to make some little tweaks to get it just right. Think of it like bend and snap, but for your bra! First, reach and pull up the cup, then scoop and pull up, pull the wire under, and let go.

DON’T SLEEP IN YOUR BRA

This should be a no brainer because hello, the best part of the day is taking OFF your bra! Sleeping bra-free also helps build muscle to help with sagging later in life. Wear something comfy and soft if you must wear something, but let’em breathe.

DON’T PUT YOUR BRA IN THE SHOWER

EVER! Bras cost us a pretty penny, so give it some love and keep them in tip-top shape by washing them in a lingerie bag and air drying. The heat from dryers can cause the spandex to warp and then not fit properly and who wants that?

START SMALL

When shopping for a new bra, start small! Make sure it is tightest on the loosest clip so you’ll have room to expand as the natural stretching over time happens. Same goes for the straps.

REPLACE YOUR BRAS REGULARLY

Like all good things in life, it must come to an end and that includes your fav bras. Bras have a shelf life and should be replaced every 6 months to once a year. It’s not all doom and gloom though – get together with some of your girls and make it into a fun bra shopping day!

GET YOUR BRA PROPERLY FITTED

This isn’t a number you want to have a hunch about – get fitted! Swing by a lingerie shop or department store and have a professional get you sorted. You’ll feel better knowing instead of just eyeballing and guessing if you’re a 32 or a 38 or anywhere in between.

DIVERSIFY YOUR BRA TYPES

Strapless, backless, convertible, pasties, bralettes – we’re truly spoiled these days with cute options. Variety is the spice of life so don’t get caught wearing a plain strapped bra with a tank top, throw on a lacy bralette! Have a backless dress? Pasties got you covered!

NO PADDING, NO PROBLEM

Pasties are a girl’s secret best friend – they’re discrete, they’re comfortable, and when no other bra can take on your outfit, pasties can handle the job. Here’s a little life hack, Band-Aids can be a quick, painless, and hidden DIY way in place of traditional pasties.
